PHL generates $16.8 billion in spending annually and supports more than 106,000 full-time jobs for the 11-county Philadelphia metropolitan statistical area. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, hundreds of workers have been furloughed. Many of these workers are airline employees, airport contractors, and concessions employees.    

PHL has launched a COVID-19 Employee Resources page where workers can access information on entering the displaced worker program, applying for unemployment benefits, and obtaining current job openings throughout the city.     

Workers can also access information regarding mortgage, rent, utility, phone, internet, food, transportation, and credit card payments.   

PHL has over 170 Food & Shops that have adjusted their store hours according to passenger volumes due to COVID-19. The airport’s master concessionaire, MarketPlace PHL responsible for the leasing, development, and management of all food and shops available in the airport have shared the resource page with employees who find this page useful and are looking into the information provided.    

“The COVID-19 Employee Resource page at PHL.org has been extremely helpful in providing up to date information for employees during this evolving situation,” said MarketPlace PHL Marketing and Customer Service Manager Megan O’Connell. “MarketPlace PHL has been able to take these resources and disseminate them to the PHL Food & Shop merchants through our internal communication processes. The site adds to our own Merchant Hub website, which has helped give them the tools and knowledge to get through these trying times.”
