The Division of Aviation leads programs and initiatives as a continual effort to attract new and diverse vendors. On Friday, December 2, the airport’s Capital Development Group and Purchasing Administration Unit Professional Services teams collaborated to host an in-person vendor engagement session on upcoming small purchase order contracts. The scope of these contracts includes work such as civil engineering, Geographical Information System (GIS) and tree inventory services.
Over 30 prospective vendors came to the airport to hear from the Capital Development and Purchasing teams. Deputy Director of Aviation- Capital Development Api Appulingam, Director of Special Systems Nora Dougherty (left) and Airport Engineering Assistant Manager Lia Sutanto provided more information on five new projects and Purchasing Manager Alec Gever (right) explained how to navigate the bid and proposal process. At the end of the session, vendors had an opportunity to ask questions to the presenters, including Deputy Director of Airport Procurement Deatrice Isaac. This engagement event educated vendors and, at the same time encouraged more diverse business interest in the projects. This was a great example of different airport units partnering to achieve a common goal and making events like these a notable success.
