Parkway Corporation Ground Transportation Associate Ibrahim Osman Koroma was recognized in the “Teamwork Makes the Dream Work” category of the Philadelphia International Airport’s (PHL) second round of the Employee Recognition Program. As a ground transportation associate, Koroma directs guests to the various ground transportation options at PHL, including public transportation, rent-a-car, shuttle busses, car share, parking garages, and taxis. He also offers information and directions to hotels and tourist destinations within the area. He makes it his mission to provide guests with all the information they need before they leave the airport and has been known to escort guests to their destinations when he is able. He also collaborates with his coworkers to provide the highest level of customer service to passengers.

“I like to help people and I like the airport environment,” said Koroma. “Customer service is the most meaningful part of my job.”

Koroma, who has worked at the airport for over three years, is on the 3:30 – 11:30 pm shift. Originally from Sierra Leone, West Africa, Koroma was a mechanical technician in his home country. After arriving in the U.S. about five years ago, he received a diploma in Aviation Maintenance from the Aviation Institute of Maintenance.

In her recommendation of Koroma, Parkway Assistant Manager Cherise Wall stated, “Wherever he is assigned to work in our operation, I can depend on him to go above and beyond to assist passengers. Whenever operational changes have to be made, and he is asked to work in a different area, Ibrahim never hesitates.”

When Koroma is not working at the airport, he enjoys spending time with his wife and their three children. He teaches them to be respectful and honest. He is always seeking knowledge and is consistently reading novels and pamphlets about Philadelphia and the U.S.

In her recommendation of Koroma, Parkway Senior Operations Manager Ashley Cebollero said, “I’m so grateful to have Ibrahim on the Parkway Airport Services team. He is truly a team player and is focused on the guest experience at PHL.  Ibrahim is deserving of this recognition, and I know he will continue to make Parkway and PHL proud.”

Although Koroma is introverted by nature, he enjoys socializing with his coworkers and guests, who bring out his extroverted side. He loves seeing people travel together and is thankful when guests express their appreciation of him.

“I like working for the Parkway Corporation,” said Koroma. “I love my job. I love Philadelphia, and I love the airport.”
