PHL Teamwork Makes the Dream Work: Division of Aviation (DOA) Custodial Worker II Sulieman Fisher

Division of Aviation (DOA) Custodial Worker II Sulieman Fisher was recognized in the “Teamwork Makes the Dream Work” category of Philadelphia International Airport’s (PHL) Employee Recognition Program. This distinction acknowledges employees who create a positive guest experience through service and delivery while collaborating with other organizations.

FisherAs a custodial worker at PHL for the past four years, Fisher is part of a team dedicated to the cleanliness of the airport. He works the 10 p.m. – 6 a.m. overnight shift and frequently picks up overtime shifts.

“We follow the lead of our crew chief,” said Fisher. “She works great with everyone, and so it works well.”

While on duty, Fisher assists travelers in finding their gate, the nearest bathroom, and their next destination.

In her nomination of Fisher, Custodial Crew Chief Monique Glinton stated, “I nominated him because he’s the type of guy that has your back. If you ask him to go a mile, he’ll go two. I don’t have to think twice about asking him for anything. He has always been someone who steps up to the plate and asks me what else needs to be done.”

Fisher enjoys working with his colleagues and hopes to influence them positively daily. “My coworkers are good people,” he said.

In her recommendation of Fisher, Custodial Operations Manager Janet Stressman stated, “Sulieman is a dedicated custodian who is honored and recognized for his exemplary service and commitment to maintaining PHL throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. He strives to preserve service levels for all our guests and tenants.”

Fisher loves Philadelphia and roots for every sports team representing the city – especially the Philadelphia Eagles.

He lives by ‘You have to make sure you do right in life,’ as he believes this is the only way to achieve success.

He admires the custodial department for their hard work and dedication.

“In addition to Sulieman, I would like to give a shout-out to my whole team that works in Terminal C,” said Glinton. “I would like to give them a shout-out because they still come to work even with the challenges they face.”

The PHL Employee Recognition Program was established by the airport’s Guest Experience (GX) Department. Honorees are nominated by their peers and selected by the GX Council Steering Committee’s Employee Conduct and Recognition Committee.
