The PHL Playbook for Football (aka Soccer) Fans

Football action is heating up in Philadelphia. No, not the game played on the gridiron — the matches played on the pitch.

Whether cheering on our hometown Philadelphia Union or traveling here for the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup 2025™ in June and July, you’ll want to brush up on your knowledge of football (soccer) lingo.  And, if you’re flying through Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) to see the “beautiful game,” you should review the PHL guests’ playbook for an advantage. No yellow or red cards here.

Arriving Passengers
Need wheelchair assistance? Contact your airline prior to travel to arrange for support once you land at PHL.

Did you check luggage? Remember which terminal you deboarded from and head to that exit and across the bridge to baggage claim. All other passengers can use any terminal exit.

Advantage!: PHL’s Care Team, Navigators, Volunteer Navigators and Virtual Help Desk staff are available in the terminals and at information desks along the way to provide assistance and directions in English and more than 400 languages using the Globo phone system.

Travelers needing transportation after retrieving their luggage or exiting the terminals, should note the following:

Score!: Have extra time to spend in Philadelphia before or after the big games? Don’t get shut out on everything the city has to offer. Need help getting around town? SEPTA is convenient, especially for getting to Lincoln Financial Field for the FIFA Club World Cup 2025™ matches.

Don't forget to download the FIFA Club World Cup 2025™ app, available from Google Play and the App Store and check out the the FIFA Club World Cup 2025™ "Know Before You Go" web page for Philadelphia.

Getting Home
Be sure to arrive at the airport at least two hours before boarding times for domestic flights (three hours for international flights) to not risk missing your flights.

Save!: Some additional reminders for passengers:

  • TSA PreCheck is available at Terminals A-East, C and D/E. Non-PreCheck passengers may use all security checkpoints except for Terminal C. Hours of operation for all security checkpoints can be found here.
  • Empty your water bottles in the liquid recycling receptacles before entering security. PHL offers water bottle refill stations once inside security checkpoints. Check out our online map for locations.
  • Passengers can access all PHL terminals through any TSA checkpoint.
  • All passengers flying domestically and airport visitors are now required to show REAL ID compliant identification at TSA checkpoints. For a list of acceptable identifcation, click here

End your trip with a win!:  Allow extra time to enjoy PHL Food & Shops’ restaurants and stores, especially local favorites like Sabrina’s, Bud and Marilyn’s, Elixr and La Colombe; relax in one of the airport’s lounges (membership required); and peruse the award-winning PHL Art & Exhibition Program’s displays, located throughout the airport.
