Since 2011, August has been recognized as National Breastfeeding Month in the United States. The campaign underscores lactation support and the health benefits of breastfeeding.
Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) continues to expand access to mothers’ nursing stations throughout the airport, including built-in lactation Suites, Mamava mobile pods, and at Minute Suites. Information about the lactation suites is available on the new AccessPHL webpage. AccessPHL ensures travelers with different kinds of needs receive the resources they need to navigate their journey.
“At PHL, we are proud to offer lactation suites—private spaces where guests can nurse, express milk, and care for their infants with comfort and privacy,” said Director of Guest Experience Leah Douglas. “As part of our AccessPHL family-friendly programs, the suites reflect our commitment to make every journey more welcoming, accessible, and inclusive for all guests.”
PHL’s built-in lactation suites include comfortable spaces to pump or nurse and are equipped with seating, a table, electrical outlets, a sink, and a mirror. The suites and pods located throughout the terminals are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Lactation suites and pods at PHL can be found at the following locations:
- Terminal B/C Food Court, Floor 2 (Suite)
- Gates A15/A16, Floor 2 (Mamava)
- Terminal D/C Connector, Floor 2 (Suite)
- Terminal D/E Connector, Floor 2 (Mamava)
- Terminal E/F Connector, Floor 2 (Suite)
- Terminal F Food Court, Floor 1 (Mamava)
“I’m excited to continue bringing more lactation suites to PHL,” said Chief Development Officer Api Appulingam. “Airport projects can be very complex, but as a mom myself, I know that it’s often the human-centered details that define how an airport is experienced. Traveling mothers will remember how access to lactation suites at PHL made a positive difference in their experience. Our complimentary baby bibs for those utilizing the lactation suite are a tiny added touch to make a mother’s trip easier.”
