On August 6, Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) opened a new exit lane system at Terminal D, the first in the airport’s upgraded unmanned exit lane system project. The project received a $600,000 grant from the Department of Community and Economic Development.
PHL Announces Garage C Construction Project
Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) is beginning construction on the Terminal C Parking Garage. Construction will be conducted in phases to provide as minimal disruption to passengers as possible. The project is starting on the garage’s roof, affecting approximately 350 parking spots. Levels in the 1,800-spot garage will close as renovations progress and will reopen as work is completed. The project will be completed in fall 2026.
Another Successful 5K Takes Off on Runway 8-26
It’s one of the most anticipated events at Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) — the annual 5K on the Runway. More than 400 runners and walkers turned out for the eighth 5K, which “took off” from runway 8-26 on September 6.

City of Philadelphia Department of Aviation Announces Successful Bond Sale
The City of Philadelphia’s Department of Aviation completed the sale of its Series 2025A and 2025B Airport Revenue and Refunding Bonds totaling approximately $365 million. The sale was completed on August 14, 2025.
PHL Completes EMAS on Runway 8-26
On June 12, the Department of Aviation completed the city’s first Engineered Material Arresting System (EMAS) on Runway 8-26 at Philadelphia International Airport (PHL). EMAS is a safety feature installed at the end of runways to stop overrunning aircraft. The project falls under the Airports Capital Development Program and aims to bring the Runway Safety Area (RSA) to compliance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) standards.
