FAA Airport Improvement Program Funds Safety, Sustainability and Passenger Experience at PHL and PNE

In July and August, the City of Philadelphia Division of Aviation received over $4.6 million in funding from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airport Improvement Program for two exciting projects: $1,836,063 for the Voluntary Airport Low Emissions Program (VALE) infrastructure program at Philadelphia International Airport (PHL), and $2,784,537 for the Taxiway L Pavement Rehabilitation program at Northeast Philadelphia Airport (PNE). Senator Bob Casey championed the funding, stating “Pennsylvania’s airports connect us to each other and the rest of the world.

Menzies Aviation Selected as New Cargo Ground Handler at Philadelphia International Airport

Dulles, Va., September 6, 2022—The City of Philadelphia (Airport or PHL) Division of Aviation, and Aviation Facilities Company (AFCO) are pleased to announce that they will be partnering with Menzies Aviation, as a new cargo ground handler at the Airport, along with Kale Logistics Solutions, as the technology solution provider for the Airport’s cargo community system. The companies will be key players in the PHL Cargo Expansion Strategy, announced last year in support of increasing regional demand for air cargo and logistics in and around the Airport.

New PHL Food & Shops Retail Concession Celebrates Voting Rights and Equality

Women’s Equality Day — August 26 — commemorates the date in 1920 that the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, giving women the right to vote, was certified. Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) guests will be able to celebrate voting rights and honor the suffragettes that fought for equality when 1920 Merch Co. opens in the Terminal B/C Connector in early September.

PHL Unsung Heroes: Parkway Corporation Ground Transportation Associate Daniel Ware Jr.

Parkway Corporation Ground Transportation Associate Daniel Ware Jr. recently received the “Unsung Heroes” award in Philadelphia International Airport’s (PHL) Employee Recognition Program. This award honors employees who work behind the scenes and are not typically recognized for their work. Although they do not work directly with guests, their effectiveness has a significant impact on the airport and guest experience.   

City of Philadelphia Division of Aviation to Break Ground on FDR Park Wetlands Mitigation Project

The City of Philadelphia Division of Aviation plans to break ground on a 33-acre Wetlands Mitigation Development Project at a site located within FDR Park in South Philadelphia in August 2022. This site is approximately 3.5 miles from Philadelphia International Airport (PHL). The Wetland Mitigation Development Project has been planned and designed to compensate for wetlands and waterway impacts anticipated from the development of the West Cargo Project at PHL.
