PHL Joins 22 North American Airports for JetStream Music Festival

For one night only, 23 airports across North America will come together for the JetStream Music Festival, an online celebration of local music. Hosted by Austin-Bergstrom International Airport from the “Live Music Capital of the World” in Austin, Texas, the free, multi-hour livestream will take place at 6 p.m. EDT on Wednesday, May 6 on participating airports’ Facebook Live. Each airport will feature a musician local to their city in support of the creative community during the COVID-19 crisis.

Rescuing Food to Help Those in Need

The loss of jobs and school closures caused by COVID-19 means even more residents of the Greater Philadelphia region are facing food insecurity and turning to Philabundance, one of the Delaware Valley’s largest hunger relief organizations, for assistance. A program established by MarketPlace and PHL Food & Shops in March 2019 is needed more than ever.

It’s mid-April and any threat of winter weather – even the very rare early spring occurrence -- in Philadelphia is past. So, what are planes doing on the deicing pad at the far west end of the airfield at Philadelphia International Airport, an area that usually sees activity in the winter months with aircraft lined up to be bathed in fluid to clear them of ice before take-off?
