Picking up food, whether to eat at PHL or take on a flight is literally as easy as “Grab” and go, thanks to the Grab mobile platform. Using the platform’s app, website or QR codes found on tables in PHL dining areas, guests can order, pay for and pick up meals from a range of PHL Food & Shops food and dining merchants without waiting in line.   

Before the City of Philadelphia Division of Aviation began rolling out Maximo – a state-of-the-art software management system – a couple of years ago, staff in the Communications Center used a very analog mechanism for documenting service requests and emergency incidents.

When transatlantic travel restrictions for U.S. passengers are lifted, PHL is slated to retain its position as American Airline’s primary hub for service to Europe and become the airline’s second largest international hub.

Before embarking on their summer journeys from PHL, many travelers are making stops at PHL Food & Shops merchants.  What must passengers have as they return to the skies? "We know that passengers are looking to stay safe and healthy while traveling, so our merchants have stocked up on all of the essentials," said Megan O’Connell, PHL Food & Shops Marketing and Customer Service Manager.

It is an almost universal picture: a young child pointing at the sky as an airplane flies by. But, as we grow older, that sound that once delighted us is now unwanted and even annoying. This nuisance can be especially bothersome if you live near an airport.

The COVID-19 pandemic’s impacts to the travel industry are well documented. In the air travel sector, at its peak in April, Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) saw a 95 percent drop in flights and passenger traffic compared to a year ago. While airlines have been bringing back service in recent weeks and plan to ramp up activity even more as the summer season kicks up in July, there are still some travel-related matters that may be feeling COVID effects for a while.

For the first time since January, Sun Country Airlines is flying from PHL, offering passengers seasonal nonstop service between Philadelphia and Minneapolis- Saint Paul International Airport (MSP) starting today. Sun Country will begin with twice weekly flights in June, then increase to four times a week in July and five in August.
