East Meets Sweets: A Celebration for Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month at PHL

East Meets Sweets 23On May 18, staff from across the Department of Aviation came together to celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month through sharing a variety of AAPI desserts. The annual "East Meets Sweets’" event drew a crowd for the potluck-style gathering, which was hosted by the airports' Capital Development Group.

PNE Activity

 Northeast Philadelphia Airport (PNE) is Pennsylvania's fourth busiest airport. As a General Aviation Reliever Airport, PNE has no commercial flights. Instead, they primarily accommodate corporate and privately-owned aircraft with approximately 160-based aircrafts, dominated by single-engine aircrafts, plus twins, jets, turboprops, and helicopters. Operations include business, personal, instructional, and commercial flying.  

PHL Celebrates AAPI Month – American Airlines Crew Chief Buntha Chan

Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) celebrates Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month by recognizing the contributions of AAPI airport employees.

American Airlines Crew Chief Buntha Chan has been at PHL for 18 years. Her job duties include leading a team that ensures flights depart on time and that passengers’ luggage arrives at the correct destinations. Chan is also the first Cambodian and Chinese female committee chair for the aviation union International Association for Machinists (IAM).
